Burley Veterinary Hospital has been a trusted part of the community since the 1940s, providing veterinary care for both household pets and farm animals. In 2020, after decades of dedicated service, Dr. Ward retired, passing the torch to Dr. Scott Morley and his wife, Katy, who took ownership of the practice. Under their leadership, the hospital continues its legacy of compassionate care, offering a wide range of services, including pet boarding, food, and supplies. With a strong commitment to animal health and community, Burley Veterinary Hospital is proud to serve animals of all sizes.
Dr. Scott Morley began working at Burley Veterinary Hospital in 2012 after graduating from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2020, he and his wife Katy purchased the practice when Dr. Ward and his wife Gina retired. Dr. Morley's journey into veterinary care began in high school while taking a Veterinary Technician course, which sparked his fascination with biology, physiology, and veterinary medicine.
As the practice owner and veterinarian, Dr. Morley enjoys working with both animals and their owners. He has a special love for pregging season, where he works with ranchers and gets to be the first to detect a calf fetus via ultrasound. At home, he cares for a black lab named Duke, a golden retriever named Daisy and two of her puppies, Drake and Deon, a cat named Grayson, and a flock of chickens.
One of Dr. Morley's favorite aspects of veterinary care is solving the puzzle of diagnosing and treating animals, always impressed by their capacity for healing. He particularly enjoys surgery and bovine and equine reproduction. Outside of work, Dr. Morley enjoys hunting, fishing, and supporting his six boys in their various sporting activities. He also volunteers with local 4-H groups and serves as the Rodeo and Fair Veterinarian for the Cassia County Fair and Rodeo.
His advice to pet owners: "Don’t overfeed your pets with treats. I’d rather see a skinny dog than a fat dog. Healthy weight dogs will live longer. Also, spaying or neutering at an early age can prevent serious health issues down the road."
Katy Morley is the Business Manager and Co-Owner of Burley Veterinary Hospital, alongside her husband, Dr. Scott Morley. Originally from Pocatello, Idaho, Katy and her family have called Burley home for nearly 13 years. Together, they have six energetic sons who keep them both busy and filled with joy.
Katy began working at the hospital in June 2020, when she and her husband took over the practice. Owning a veterinary practice has always been a dream for them, and they’ve loved being a part of the Burley Veterinary Hospital team. Katy manages the business side of the hospital, handling everything from payroll to human resources, while also stepping in wherever she’s needed.
One of her favorite parts of the job is helping with newborn puppies right after C-sections—she finds them absolutely adorable! At home, Katy and her family have a lively group of pets, including four dogs, a cat, a turkey, four ducks, and a growing number of chickens. If it were up to her kids, they'd have even more!
In her free time, Katy enjoys fishing, camping, and spending time with her family. She also loves getting to know clients and their pets—so be sure to say hi if you see her around!
